About me
Marcel is Founder and Chief Business Officer at Seda, a company focussed on delivering chemistry manufacturing and controls (CMC) and clinical pharmacology services. The company is located in Cheadle, Stockport and supports companies across UK, Europe, US, Asia and Australia.
Marcel has led the growth of technical capabilities and services at Seda, and has been instrumental in its transformation from a consultancy based business to an internationally recognised contract research, development, and manufacturing organisation. Services include the development of complex oral and parenteral products in addition to other advanced dosage forms and delivery systems. The establishment of Seda Clinical Manufacturing Services provides an additional string to the Seda bow with the capability to supply investigational medicinal products into clinical trials now in place.
Marcel previously worked in both management and senior scientific positions in industry and academia over the last 28 years. Prior to setting up Seda, he was a Principal Scientist in Product Design and Innovation at AstraZeneca, where he was responsible for introducing novel science and new technologies (manufacturing and drug delivery) into the Product Development group.
He provided project leadership and managed product development teams responsible for the delivery of drug projects from initial concept design through late stage development, regulatory submission and launch. He also led teams at the drug discovery-development interface, assessing the level of CMC technical risk and defining product design strategies in early development. Project experience covered projects across a range of disease and therapy areas with substantial experience in the oncology field.
Marcel has notable experience in developing enabling pharmaceutical technologies and has established a number of open innovation platforms, working across industry sectors, companies and across international boundaries including China.
Academic activity was focussed on particle engineering and drug delivery for enhanced oral and inhaled administration with Marcel leading technology commercialisation activities for a University start-up in the nanotechnology field.
Marcel has built a strong global network of collaborators with substantial international experience across major pharmaceutical markets. He has also established science programmes in a range of Universities and formerly led the creation of the North West Centre for Advanced Drug Delivery (NoWCADD) at Manchester Pharmacy School.
