Dr. Antonio Oliviero career started in Rome (Catholic University) where he obtained the degree
in Medicine (Oct 1993) and the degree in Neurology (Oct 1997). In the same University, Dr
Oliviero obtained the PhD in Neuroscience (Jan 8th, 2002). The main research fields of Dr
Oliviero are: neuromodulation of the central nervous system, brain plasticity, functional
exploration of the (motor) cortex and pain processing and treatment. The actual position of Dr
Oliviero is Neurologist and head of the FENNSI (Functional exploration and neuromodulation of
the nervous system) Group at the Hospital Nacional de Parapléjicos in Toledo (Spain). Dr
Oliviero published more than 200 papers in international peer-reviewed journals, some of
them being highly respected like the Journal of Neuroscience, Annals of Neurology, Brain,
Neurology, Cerebral Cortex, Neuroimage and Journal of Physiology. These articles have been
cited more than 21000 times (google scholar). The H index of Dr Oliviero is 64 (google scholar).
Dr. Oliviero supervised >8 PhD that completed their thesis.
Dr Oliviero Group was the recipient of a Miguel Servet Fellow (Dr Juan Aguilar) that is known a
well respected and highly productive PI at the Hospital Nacional de Parapléjicos (Enterprise
SLU).
Antonio Oliviero has been involved as principal investigator of several national and
international projects with a total financing exceeding 3 million euros. He is expert in clinical
trial organization and he collaborates in a number of ongoing trials (Neuroplast, Neurofix,
Neurosave, etc.) focused in spinal cord recovery and in pain management. Moreover, Dr
Oliviero research is also oriented to industrial exploitation and he participated in the
foundation of the small biotech company NEUREK S.L. (spin-off of the Fundación of the
Hospital Nacional de Parapéjicos, Toledo-Spain), Samos Medical Enterprise S.L. and SINFATIN
S.L
