Head of a consolidated research group at the BioGipuzkoa Health Research Institute (IIS BioGipuzkoa) and director of the Personalized Medicine and Advanced Therapies Area at BioGipuzkoa. Head of the Advanced Therapies Unit at the Donostialdea Integrated Health Organization (OSI Donostialdea-Donostia University Hospital), where he coordinates the technical aspects of applying advanced therapies to patients in the Basque Country. This unit is the reference center for allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation and CAR-T cell therapies within the Basque Health Service (Osakidetza). He is an expert in stem cells, regenerative medicine, and tissue engineering, with over 20 years of experience primarily focused on skin and muscle. His current work centers on developing "academic" products for advanced therapies to promote the in-house manufacturing of these cell-, gene-, and tissue-based medicines within the Basque National Health System (SNS).
